Sunday; Sunny Weather
Mmm, the beautiful sunny weather that I left behind in
Brussels have been shining upon Denmark for now the past three days and I am
loving any moment of it as if I was a sun-deprived Dane (that I actually am!). It
has been so great that I have finally my garden chairs and table from the
creepy basement, which means I can enjoy the weather even more… unless the weather
forecasters are right with their predictions of snow for next weekend. I
sincerely hope they are wrong… snow in May is beyond crazy, even in terms of
Danish weather. But I dare not think of that too much as the day in general has
been great.
I did absolutely no studying, but started the day with
downloading a couple of songs and I put on my iPod before heading off to the
fitness center at the university. The beauty of a fitness center at university
is, not many students or employees come Sunday morning to workout. So I had
most of it to myself. I did my routine and then headed back to my apartment to
just clean a bit and do some grocery shopping to last me some days, before
hitting the shower.
After that… I really have done nothing but enjoying
the beautiful weather. My body (and mind) didn’t want to do anything, and this
time I actually listened by settling down on a garden chair and enjoying the
weather, while working on my tan (my many freckles are showing, yay!)
In these moments I am on the couch, enjoying a glass
of rosé wine and… simply continuing with relaxation as I know I have to do some
studying tomorrow. But that is tomorrow…
Have you been enjoying this Sunday? Have the weather
been great where you are?
Until next time,
Mia ♥

Life: Taking A Walk
Lately, I have been feeling quite stressed with the university
workload as lecturers tend to be slow at realizing deadlines and uploading
assignments, but also I have felt quite homesick as I haven’t really been home
since New Year and felt uncertainty about life (and the future) in general. The
emotions tend to build up inside me over a longer period before the wall breaks
and I find myself overwhelmed with everything and every emotion. It is far from
preferred.
Today, I felt the wall quivering violently as there are many
deadlines this week before Easter and my neighbour’s barking dogs were really getting
to me, along with it being my Dad’s birthday though without me being able to
celebrate with him as I have classes and work tomorrow. As it was getting far
too much for me, especially with the neighbour’s four dogs barking constantly
for four hours without any chance of them stopping, I decided to take a walk…
and that was a brilliant idea as a walk always is.
It isn’t the longest route I take, but that isn’t the main
point of taking a walk. The fresh air, the exercise and the pause from daily
life is main point and something I really, really needed to calm me down today.
Generally, it is a way of clearing my head of the many thoughts that float
around in my head, but also it helps me focusing on what is important instead
of stressing about everything. Sometimes you can’t do everything and that is
alright. Sometimes you wanna be places you can’t be, but that doesn’t mean it
will always be that way. Sometimes you just have to wait till life comes
around.
I suppose it is a kind of meditation. But no matter what it
is, it certainly helped… So, I went home and I called my Dad, wishing him a
happy birthday with the promise of coming home on Friday, and then turned back
to my workload as the dogs had stopped barking (thankfully!) and the future…
well, it can definitely wait till another day.
Are you feeling stressed lately? And what do you do to de-stress?
Until next time,
Mia ♥

Saturday; Outfit of the Day – Birthday Party
Another
rare OOTD post… and on a Saturday at that. Amazing. Yes, please note the
sarcasm.
Anyways,
as I really don’t have a lot of time before I leave my apartment, I am heading
to two of my friends’ birthday party and I confidently thought I would sneak in
an OOTD post as there won’t be many of them in general and I liked the last one
with the Oscars. I have decided to keep it completely simple, although gone for
a more… put-together look. Does that make sense? I am not even sure it makes
sense to me, but just more formal-ish like than what I normally do.
I
have chosen to wear my black Selected dress, which I am absolutely in love with…
the quality is amazing, especially considering the price, and I just love the
cut. It can be worn as an everyday dress or for a more special event –
personally, I use it for both. I typically buy dresses (and in general clothes)
I can dress up and down depending on the occasion as it gives more wear out of
the dresses. I have paired it with my trustworthy Decadent handbag and as for
shoes, we don’t really wear shoes of any kind inside, so I will choose some
random pair. For
jewelry, I didn’t go all out, but instead opted for the pieces I wear on an
everyday basis. I could have done something more I suppose, but yeah, I am a
bit lazy when it comes to jewelry. Make-up is also kept simple, though the
lipgloss from MAC will brighten up the look and came it feel more spring like
with its coral-pink colour.

Currently reading: Bet Me by Jennifer Cruise
I truly enjoy reading books, whether they be
older works or ‘just published’ books, and especially when I am feeling very
unwell like today (although, I haven’t been feeling well for the past four days
– damn you, illness!). There is nothing better than snuggling up on the couch
under a blanket and with a good book in your hand, letting the day pass by as
you escape into one of the many worlds books can offer (… shopping is really
amazing as well, though, I gotta admit that).
Currently I am reading Bet Me for the nth time
because I need something light and humorous to brighten up my days… It is doing
a wonderful job, I will let you know. Bet Me by Jennifer Cruise is most
definitely on my list over favourite chick lit books. It is simply everything a
good chick lit book should be – hilarious, sassy, interesting characters and a
not too complicated plot. Simply nothing you need to think or contemplate
seriously about once you close the book (or in my case, click the ‘home’ button
on my Kindle)… it isn’t to suggest I don’t like deeper books where I have to
really think, because I do (and that is what my study demands of me)! But I
don’t always need that and sometimes I just want to be entertained. Bet Me
entertains, and it entertains well.
Summary from goodreads.com:
Minerva Dobbs knows
that happily-ever-after is a fairy tale, especially with a man who asked her to
dinner to win a bet. Even if he is gorgeous and successful Calvin Morrisey. Cal
knows commitment is impossible, especially with a woman as cranky as Min Dobbs.
Even if she does wear great shoes and keeps him on his toes. When they say
good-bye at the end of their evening, they cut their losses and agree never to
see each other again. But Fate has other plans, and it's not long before Min
and Cal meet again. Soon, they're dealing with a jealous ex-boyfriend, Krispy
Kreme donuts, a determined psychologist, chaos theory, a freakishly intelligent
cat, Chicken Marsala, and more risky propositions than either of them ever
dreamed of. Including the biggest gamble of all--true love.
If this sounds somewhat
interesting for you, then I would definitely recommend this book… and I do
believe the first chapter can be read on Jennifer Cruise’s website. So check
that out!
Have you read any of Jennifer
Cruise’s books? And what are you reading lately?
Until next time,
Mia ♥
